This position is located within USS RED ROVER (BLDG 1523), Fleet Medicine Directorate of the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) North Chicago, Illinois. The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center is larger than just a single facility, but rather a system of facilities throughout Northeastern Illinois which provide medical and dental services to U.S. Military veterans, Recruits, Active Duty and eligible beneficiaries.
Duties
The purpose of this position is to independently manage USS RED ROVER's automated records documentation program and to provide general administrative support to Immunizations, Medical Assessment, and Female Wellness Divisions. The automated process utilizes desktop automation and macros recorder to perform multiple taskers by extracting data from desktop applications. This system is used across several clinics to automate processes of a repetitive nature that do not require logical thinking or human intervention for completion. The system supports the facility's need for error-free consistency in the Recruits medical record keeping process. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Works with local (Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) Composite Health Care System (CHCS) team and off site FHCC Regional Immunization Program Manager (RIPM) and DHA to achieve optimal functionality of automated documentation.
Serves as a clerical employee performing a variety of medical clerical and administrative duties, which are mission essential and supportive of the work of the organization.
Functions as the primary point of contact and SME for automated documentation for 38,000 - 44,000 annual Recruits.
Applies troubleshooting techniques and software testing principles to work through software issues as it pertains to automated documentation which also includes knowledge of AHLTA / CHCS in support of Immunizations, Medical Assessment, and Female Wellness Divisions.
Handles sensitive personnel documents that include, Medical Records, DoD Recruit rosters and PHI/PII.
Performs routine business process automation, monitor automated systems, isolate problems and perform local skill-appropriate correction in accordance with relevant FHCC / DoD guidance.
Troubleshoots WIN automation computer software problems; acts as liaison between the Service, OIT/IRM.
Makes recommendations to both the Service and IRM as appropriate to insure the software functions properly in the service. Recognize and troubleshoot automation errors.
Interacts with multiple divisions within the department to initiate and monitor automated documentation system to create accurate documentation of encounters of immunizations and counseling.
Performs data-entry of encounter documentation and assist others in this task to complete automation process in the event of system failure.
Provides back batch registration support to medical records / assessment division, by monitoring the joint registration process between CHCS /VISTA and Single Patient Registration (GUI).
Develops a basic understanding of SHIPS / Corporate Enterprise Training Activity System (CeTARS) to provide support in the creation of Recruit rosters.
Manages mail and correspondence services including preparing a variety of recurring reports, coordinating completion and review of action items or suspense's, composing and/or editing letters and reports.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement,
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: Utilizing software to produce a wide range of documents using software functions to enhance productivity or produce complex formats such as generation of indices and tables-of-contents, importation of graphics or special symbols, creation of glossaries, and precise alignment of multiple columns. Assisting in departmental problem solving and planning alternative solutions. Preparing reports, assisting in planning, reviewing, and reporting data, and statistical results. Data collection and develop trending sheets or graphs to display the data in reports for internal and external review.
Graduate education (Masters or higher) can be used to substitute specialized experience in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. NOTE: Transcripts Required.

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary while stationed at a desktop computer workstation, but includes some walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items such as papers and files. No special physical demands are required.
