The purpose of this position is to serve as a financial analyst and an expert and authority in the identification, examination, and analysis of financial data in relation to potential violations of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). The incumbent coordinates the examination of financial aspects of investigations in cooperation with investigators, attorneys, and others. This position is inside the bargaining unit.

Qualifications

You must meet the Basic Requirements and the "Specialized Experience" to qualify for Financial Analyst, as described below. BASIC REQUIREMENTS - Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR): EDUCATION: Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Major study -- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position. OR Experience: Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience such as performing financial analysis and evaluation work requiring a comprehensive knowledge of (1) corporate finance and any specialized fields of finance required such as public finance, securities, international finance, money and securities markets, investments, and banking, and (2) the financial and management structure, operations, and practices of corporate and other organizations. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, you must also meet the specialized experience requirement listed below: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Qualifying specialized experience for GS-1160-14 includes: Experience serving as an expert financial analyst and providing authoritative advice and guidance to senior level staff regarding the identification, examination and analysis of complex financial investments and data. Experience should have equipped the applicant with skill in providing expertise in the examination of financial aspects of investigations in cooperation with various stakeholders, (i.e. case agents, investigators, prosecuting attorneys). There is no educational substitution for Specialized Experience at the GS-14 grade level.
