This position functions in the capacity of a Maintenance Worker for the Miami V AHCS. As a Maintenance Worker, you will perform a variety of sub-journeyman level tasks associated with a variety of trades and crafts, including carpentry, plumbing, air conditioning, electrical and painting in the general maintenance and repair of building interiors that takes less than 20 minutes. Addresses issues related to the Environment of Care in their specified area by contacting the correct service.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Prepares or gathers all necessary tools and equipment for project or assignment.
Responsible for the maintenance, construction, modification, alteration and repairing interior decorating and structural items such as: doors, partitions, windows, finished paneling, interior and exterior trims, screens, roofs, floor coverings, shelving's cabinets, etc.
Measures, cuts, constructs or repairs wood or wood substitute items such as scaffolding, staging parts, panels, bins pallets, concrete forms, dray walls, and roof decking.
Operates and uses a wide variety of specialty woodworking machines and tools.
Plans, measures, and lays out carpentry materials by interpreting complex or incomplete instructions, sketches, blueprints, and building codes.
Repairs plumbing systems, the work involves installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems.
Repairs equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers.
Works from building plans, blueprints, and sketches, to plan and perform the task.
Completes other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: This position generally works indoors in the medical center, but may also work outdoors, sometimes in bad weather. Work areas may be noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy. There is frequent chance for minor injuries such as bruises, cuts, and scrapes, burns, sprains, etc. The use of safety gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, or other safety equipment and protective clothing may be necessary to avoid severe injuries. The possibility exists for exposure to communicable diseases and the employee must be well versed in infection control procedures and techniques. Universal precautions must be observed at all times by the employee. You may be exposed to the fumes, splashes or residues of a wide variety of commercial and industrial maintenance chemicals some of which may be toxic, caustic or acidic and could cause burns, skin irritation or allergic reaction while mixing, using, or disposing of these chemicals.
