You will serve as a HUMAN RESEARCH PROTECTION PROGRAM SPECIALIST in the SPONSORED PROGRAMS SUPPORT OFFICE of NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL.
Duties
You will serve as the campus-wide expert for faculty, staff and others on issues concerning research involving human subjects in general, and application to the Naval postgraduate education and research mission specifically.
You will review all protocols submitted to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and ensure packages are in compliance with governing policies and regulations.
You will prepare correspondence for the approval of protocols, continuation of projects, board minutes, school wide IRB notifications and IRB reports.
You will maintain necessary reference material for the human research protection program, develop/maintain written standard operation procedures, and maintain current knowledge to answer questions from customers and RSPO personnel.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing knowledge of federal legislation, Executive Orders and DoD/DoN regulations governing the use of human subjects in research to provide information and guidance within a program; 2) Maintaining records associated with research projects according to procedures; 3) Conducting research/investigations to address concerns or resolve problems with regards to research involving human subjects; 4) Providing information through informal written messages and formal written reports utilizing office computer software (i.e. Word, Outlook, Access, Power Point, Excel). GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing an initial review of a program packet for higher authority review and ensuring all regulatory elements are contained; 2) Monitoring compliance on all projects once approved by higher authority in accordance with DoD, DoN, and local instructions for the program; 3) Providing instruction and guidance to customers and colleagues on the composition and format of program packets; and 4) Researching a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve effectiveness, efficiency and work products. Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-011:Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related
GS-09:Have a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
