About the Position: The position is titled Global Integration Planning Specialist and is located in United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), SCJS (Strategy, Policy, and Plans), SCJSS (Strategy and Strategic Planning) Division. The incumbent provides strategic planning support to command Global Integration efforts as they relate to strategic guidance such as the National Defense Strategy, National Military Strategy, Contingency Planning Guidance, Guidance for Employment of the Force.

Duties

Perform adaptive planning tools to include command and control information environment portal, website management, and demonstrate a complete and current understanding of the joint strategic planning system. Responsible for the planning, coordinating, and programming of operations related to Global Integration. Research sources to include embassy cables, congressional reports, think tank reports, observations and notes from U.S. ambassadors, analysis and intelligence reports plus open-source material. Lead and support joint planning team(s) as directed to develop strategies, plans and concepts in support of USSOUTHCOM missions and global competition efforts. Research problems areas; identify key variables or factors; and develops practical and innovative solutions based upon knowledge of the organization's long, intermediate, and short-term goals. Ensure the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's objectives.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random drug testing thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service which includes work that involves provide advice and receipt of input on complex programs with multi-service, multiagency, international, non-governmental, and other partners, research sources to include embassy cables, congressional reports, think tank reports, observations and notes from U.S. ambassadors, analysis and intelligence reports plus open-source material, coordinate with various stakeholders (subject matter experts in various functional areas) to coordinate priorities and policies and a plan of execution, responsible for the planning, coordinating, and programming of operations related to Global Integration. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-12 grade/level in the federal service. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Integration, Outreach & CollaborationIntelligence Strategic PlanningOrganizational AwarenessStrategic Thinking Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
