This position is located in the Executive Office for United States Trustees (EOUST), United States Trustee Program (USTP or Program), United States Department of Justice (DOJ), in Washington, D.C. The Program is a litigating component of the DOJ whose mission is to promote the integrity and efficiency of the nation's bankruptcy system for the benefit of all stakeholders - debtors, creditors, and the public.

This Executive Assistant role is a highly visible position within the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees, providing executive level support to the Director, who is a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES), and working closely with other members of the U.S. Trustee Program's leadership team in both the EOUST and the field. Duties of this GS-0301-12/13/14 position include but are not limited to: Working special projects and studies, on topics which impact on the respective subject area or program. Providing analysis and conducting fact-finding, coordination, and data analysis of a variety of topics and issues in connection with impacted offices. Analyzing and evaluating existing, new, and emerging functional requirements of the Program and the bankruptcy process. Coordinating with other programs and functions within EOUST and the Program to meet objectives and goals. Analyzing proposed and existing directives for conformance with policy, for clarity, to avoid duplication or conflict with other issuances, and to develop appropriate corrective actions. Determining other Departmental components that need to be involved in the USTP's response to Congressional inquires, including the Office of Legislative Affairs. Serving as Editor for the Program's Annual Report; selecting the format to be used; meeting with each component and determining which highlights to include reviewing content for compliance with EOUST standards; and overseeing production of the publication.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Executive Assistant at (GS-0301-12/13/14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). To qualify for the GS-0301-12 - You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector managing changing and competing priorities under strict timelines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. To qualify for the GS-0301-13 - You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing managerial/administrative guidance on the functions of an organization. To qualify for the GS-0301-14 - You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing expert technical advice and recommendations on matters pertaining to organizational processes, procedures, and policies.
