The primary purpose of this position is, as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) officer, provide overall management for program integration/executionrequirements for an operational flying aeromedical evacuation squadron (AES).
Duties
Provides administrative oversight of operational unit activities. Provides oversight for assigned and issued organization equipment.
Establishes and executes mission, organizational, budget/fiscal, staffing, and flying requirements to meet prescribed mission capability.
Oversees unit aeromedical training programs to ensure assigned personnel are adequately trained to perform operational aeromedical evacuation (AE) mission.
Represents the aeromedical evacuation operations function to external agencies to include wing, non-appropriated funds (NAF), and HQ functional representatives, and establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships to further organizational goals.
Provides squadron deployment/contingency execution oversight for mission accomplishment, including Air and Space Expeditionary Force (AEF) tasking requirements and contingency capability sourcing in support of defense support to civil authorities (DSCA).
Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities for a small workforce.

- This position is centrally managed by the Medical Career Field team. Travel and relocation expenses will be paid.

- Work may require occasional travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities
- Position will require a background security investigation to determine suitability for employment and/ a secret security clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

- Unless exempt, selectee must satisfactorily complete a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period.
- Position is designated as Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- As a mandatory requirement for employment, the incumbent is to refrain from the use of illegal drugs and if requested, submit to urinalysis testing. Appointee must sign a statement acknowledging the position occupied is a TDP.
- This position is designated as mobility position. The incumbent must be willing to move/transfer to another unit/location on a lateral or promotion basis as directed by HQ Air Force Reserve Command
- Incumbent may be required to work uncommon tours of duty with limited/no notice.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-XX, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes planning and organizing activities of the aeromedical evacuation (AE) organization; performing financial management, information systems, training and operations, communications/administration, administration and personnel to ensure optimum management of resources; providing direction to subordinates and assures internal organization integration between operational and clinical requirements to meet mission objectives; managing personnel and financial programs; reviewing operational reports and inspection results and makes determination on the need for additional, corrective or emerging training requirements based on findings, program changes or mission requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of organization mission, command relationships, operational concepts, contingency, mobility, and plans requirements. Knowledge of relationships between various entities, higher level operations, and executive branch departments in the overall planning and execution of assigned unit operations.
Knowledge of the ability and critical information necessary to plan, coordinate, communication, andcontrol operations for worldwide Aeromedical Evacuation (AE). Knowledge (comprehensive) of assigned area of responsibility's operational health care systems to include, ancillary/support services, managed and contract care, medical operations and in-route medical support, and adjunct health care systems.
Ability to resolve complex issues, maintain good working relations. Ability to plan, organize, and assign work to subordinate employees. Knowledge of safety, security, and Equal Employment Opportunity regulations, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of medical readiness planning and training requirements and administrative staff functions. Ability to analyze current or projected AE operations programs, and AE program management functions, principles, and techniques.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct an Aeromedical Evacuation system infrastructure and medical/aeromedical operations. Business acumen to ensure organizational mission accomplishment; demonstrate fiscal responsibility and accountability for allocated organization resources.
Ability to manage/coordinate health services programs to include logistics, facilities, finance, operations/support, human resources, patient administration, AE, communications/information systems and operational reporting systems. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; computer skills to generate data in spreadsheets and reports.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
