This position is located within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PMRS), Veterans Affairs Medical Center in St Louis, MO. The incumbent will be working for programs in the PMRS section including but not limited to the Blind Rehab Program and Comprehensive Medical Rehab Programs. The incumbent functions as a program and administrative assistant under the direction of the Physical Medicine and Rehab Program Manager.

Duties

The incumbent performs certain aspects of program planning and development as well as managing resources and establishing and maintaining communications with services such as Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Acquisition and Material Management, Quality Management, Patient Advocate, Facilities Management Service and providing program administrative and technical assistance in the day-to-day operations, program planning for P ANS/PMRS and the completion of special projects as assigned. The incumbent is responsible for recognizing and resolving program issues on an ongoing basis including monitoring and maintaining program requirements for The Joint Commission and CARP standards and quality improvement activities as assigned. Incumbent collects, compiles and/or tracks data and statistical information in support of the P ANS/PMRS program operations and assists in the planning, review and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies. Develops protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets and retrieves computerized data. Performs basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Evaluates documents and forms such as sampling plans, permit applications and other data collection forms. Coordinates incoming data from a variety of sources, reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track suspense items such as project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments and compliance strategies. Arranges transportation and travel as needed for P ANS/PMRS staff and schedules and arranges meetings including establishing and distributing meeting agendas, recording and distributing meeting minutes. Occasionally represents the PANS/PMRS at meetings not requiring specific expertise. Schedules consultation appointments for referred patients. May be required to schedule routine follow-up clinic visits and therapies. Monitors new consults for timely completion. The incumbent must obtain and maintain certification in the use of the Appointment Management Module. Establishes and maintains contact information for the Regional Amputation Centers, PANS, and within the VISN. Coordinates video teleconference between sites, coordinate conference calls, educational presentations and in-services from vendors according to hospital policy. Coordinates the communication (phone, written, and telecommunication) of the PANS, Amputation Clinic Teams, Amputation Points of Contact and Military Treatment Facilities. The incumbent performs general clerical duties and other appropriate duties as requested. Incumbent may be required by the ARC to assist in directional assistance for patients; managing work orders and performing other related duties for P ANS/PMRS as assigned. Duty Station: This position is located at the Jefferson Barracks division but may be changed to any other VASTLHCS location based on the needs of the medical center. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/28/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Physical Requirements: This position is mostly sedentary and in an office setting. Some walking to all parts of the medical center will be required.
