These positions are located in Yosemite National Park, in the Business and Revenue Management Division. Both Permanent and Career Seasonal positions are being offered. Career Seasonal positions and are anticipated to be in non-pay status for a maximum of 6 months and a minimum of 2 weeks based on funding, location and weather. Duties

Major Duties: GS-05: Collects appropriate fees at park entrance station, visitor center, campground and other visitor contact station following established accountability guidelines for handling government funds. Provides current and accurate information to visitors concerning the NPS area and other surrounding areas of interest. Prepares remittance reports and bank deposits for funds collected. Maintains necessary accountability records. Assists in orientation and on the job training for new coworkers encouraging high performance of staff through a variety of motivational techniques and leads by example. Models' high standards of honesty, integrity, trust, openness, and respect for coworkers and visitors by applying these values to daily behaviors. In addition to the GS-05 duties, GS-06 duties include: Performs a variety of technically challenging duties associated with the collection, deposit, tracking, and expenditure of fee revenue and donations collected from the public. Initiates and modifies and works methods and processes for improvement. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. Nine of thirteen vacancies are Career Seasonal positions in which they are anticipated to be in non-pay status for a maximum of 6 months and a minimum of 2 weeks based on funding, location and weather. Yosemite National Park, California, known worldwide for its spectacular natural beauty is the backdrop for this position. Sitting astride the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the park covers 1,182 square miles of varied wilderness ecosystems, from river valleys to alpine meadows to lofty 13,000-foot-high peaks. Yosemite Valley is located 208 miles from San Francisco, 81 miles from Merced, and 94 miles from Fresno. Shopping, medical, postal and laundry services are available in the park. Elevation at the Valley floor is approximately 4,000 feet and 2,200 feet in El Portal. The park is open year-round with the majority of activities occurring during the busy season March through October.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by 11:59 PM EST when the applicant cut-off is reached (which may be sooner than 08/21/2023). Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. Quality Ranking Factor: Handling Money - able to handle, collect, and account for money. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: providing resource orientation, disseminating information, collecting and accounting for fees, and working with technology and software used in fee and revenue management. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Note: One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, 6 months of specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), combined with three (3) years of college study (90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours). NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. I have included my transcripts and hours/week worked on my resume. To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; using an automated financial system to perform accounting and/or financial transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; and resolving software issues that arise in the remittance and/or fee collection process. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate-level study (18 semester hours or equivalent) that directly applies to the work of the position, in a field such as accounting, business, or finance. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. Example of a qualifying combination: 6 months of specialized experience (50% of the required specialized experience described above), and 9 semester hours of graduate level classes (50% of the education requirement as described above) may qualify an applicant for this position.You must include hours per week worked and transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. ICTAP/CTAP: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special prior?ity selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies.
