You will serve as a Public Affairs Specialist in the Public Affairs Division of NAVAL INFORMATION WARFARE SYSTEMS COMMAND.
Duties
You will assist the Public Affairs Director with internal and external communication, including writing stories, photojournalism support, developing talking points, congressional liaison support, and/or security and policy review.
You will work with a diverse team of communication professionals to develop, direct, and carry out comprehensive communication programs throughout NAVWAR?s 11,000-employee workforce worldwide and with external stakeholders.
You will develop topic ideas for further development and marketing externally and internally.
You will pitch ideas to the media to develop independent articles and coverage. Receive written, oral and electronic queries (including those received via public websites).
You will research, coordinate, and provide accurate responses back within reporter deadlines.
You will present story ideas to news and trades media representatives to have the information published in local, national, and trade press publications or on media websites.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
DA-03
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: drafting information relative to an organization's mission, programs and accomplishments for dissemination to the public and the media; AND Writing a variety of reports, products and projects such as; fact sheets, informational brochures or papers, articles and other content.
DA-02
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting with drafting information relative to an organization's mission, programs and accomplishments for dissemination to the public and the media; AND Writing a variety of reports, products and projects such as; fact sheets, informational brochures or papers, articles and other content.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
DA-02:
master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
DA-03:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
