This position is located in the Fleet & Family Readiness Program, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic. The primary purpose of this position is to provide parent education and support services by means of home visitation as a member of the NPS Program. The program is designed to provide home-based education for child abuse/ neglect prevention services to eligible population which includes deployed members, divorcees, and adoptive families as well as expectant and new military parents.

- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles

Qualifications

A qualified candidate possess the following:
Knowledge of family violence dynamics, safety assessment and crisis intervention techniques with the ability to remain objective under stressful situations. Knowledge of an ability to administer Joint Service Family Needs Screener and utilize the Nurturing Parenting Program curriculum for intervention purposes.
Knowledge of state and federal laws and procedures, which govern the reporting of domestic violence, suspected child abuse/neglect and child sexual abuse. Knowledge of military organizations, missions, lifestyles, and associated stressors that can impact family development and unity during childbearing years.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals during routine and crisis situations, including those In the medical, legal, and social service, military and civilian communities. Skill in oral and written communication and use of computer word processing and database input.
Knowledge of Navy instructions which provide technical and theoretical framework of Navy FAP. Knowledge of Navy FFSC and CAPS programs with its range of services and community based programs and referrals.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field with specialization in child development; OR professional knowledge such as gained through a Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, or other related social science with specialization in maternal/child health issues and/or public health, is preferred.
Four years of experience providing home visitation services may be substituted for a professional degree.
