This position is located in the Legal Division, Office of the General Counsel, Office of the Executive Secretary, Operations Unit, of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. This office serves as an adviser in corporate law and provides legal advice and opinions to other FDIC Divisions and Offices on corporate law matters. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

Duties

Supports the Executive Secretary as FDIC Federal Register officer in editing, processing, and submitting notices for publication in the Federal Register. Also, supports the Executive Secretary in preparation and publication of the FDIC regulatory agenda as part of the semiannual Unified Agenda of Federal Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions. Supports the Executive Secretary as Advisory Committee Management Officer in ensuring FDIC compliance with the laws and regulations governing FDIC advisory committees.  Serves as a liaison between Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) management and Unit specialists (Board Operations, Board Support, Paralegal, and Operations) to ensure accomplishment of Unit work, projects, and assignments by translating scope, goals and plans and by overseeing performance by judging quantity, quality, and timeliness of work.  Researches and extracts materials from the minutes and permanent records of the Board of Directors for use by staff and others in litigation and the preparation of reports, memoranda, and other official documents. Makes determinations based on interpretations thereof affecting courses of action to be taken by the Board, the standing committees, other Corporation committees, and senior officials.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.  Additional qualifications information can be found here. To qualify for the CG-15: Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-14 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience in editing, processing and submitting notices for publication in the Federal Register and conducting research and analysis of the records of a board of directors or other head of a government, business or nonprofit entity. J.D. or LL.B Degree required.  Active Membership in good standing of the bar of at least one state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.   Applicants must have met the qualification requirements (including selective placement factors – if any) for this position within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.
