This position is located in the Headquarters Office of the Consumer Product Safety Commission in the Regulatory Enforcement Division (CRE) within the Office of Compliance (EXC). CRE is responsible for assessing product compliance to consumer product regulatory requirements and taking enforcement actions, if necessary, to compel compliance.
Duties
This position is available in the Office of Compliance, Division of Regulatory Enforcement at CPCS's headquarters in Bethesda, MD. It is not a remote work position, although telework flexibilities are available due to the pandemic. Any selected applicants are expected to reside, or to relocate to reside, within a reasonable commuting location of this duty station. The Division is responsible for enforcing mandatory standards and regulations, negotiating recalls, and providing advice and guidance to the regulated community and other stakeholders.

Qualifications
All applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
GS-11: Experience 1) conducting analysis, and developing recommendations or conclusions based on that analysis.
GS-12: Experience 1) conducting analysis, and developing recommendations or conclusions based on that analysis; AND 2) using, developing, and interpreting data.
Evidence of the above specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
Applicants may substitute education for experience at the GS-11 grade level only as defined below.
GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related or 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-9.
GS-12: There is no substitution for specialized experience at this grade level.
