The Supervisory Program Specialist provides guidance, instruction, maintenance, and trouble shooting in the daily
operations in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Service of the Picture Archive and Communication
system (PACS) and Vista Imaging interface and Voice Recognition (VR) system.
Duties
Develops and tests network contingency procedures and continuously evaluates needs and updates accordingly.
Develops and/or implements stringent security procedures including implementing a system security awareness program with such elements as security training and briefings to foster an awareness of PACS information security.
Oversees employees performing related work functions at the GS-5 through GS-11 levels.
Reports all QA activities and the findings of such activities to the Chief, Imaging Service as well as the Chief Technologist and various modality supervisors.
Provides first line technical support for image transmission of display errors related to modalities, Vista interface, display workstations, and printers.
Performs extensive analysis and collects data related to radiology orders and reports based on their status through the web-based Administrative Portal of speech recognition, PACS and Vista, ensuring all radiological exams are completed in a timely manner and within established policies.
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities.
Serves as the primary security officer for PACS. Develops and/or implements stringent security procedures including implementing a system security awareness program with such elements as security training and briefings to foster an awareness of PACS information security.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/18/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Research and/or analyzes problems, issues, or program requirements supporting the functions of a digital imaging system.
Determines pertinent issues and collects relevant information from a variety of sources. Reviews information and applies standard analytical techniques.
Develops recommendations and proposals.
Performs Vista Radiology and PACS duties, as well as Voice Recognition administrator duties within the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Service and coordinates support throughout the Medical Center.
Develops methods and programs to evaluate, monitor and maintain digital images systems.
Ensures that all responsibilities are fulfilled in an efficient, timely, and satisfactory manner.
Key member of the PACS implementation team, dedicated to the planning, developing, installation and operation of the PACS Imaging Network.
Serve as a liaison for Information Technology (IT), Biomedical employees, and clinical users to ensure the PACS system is configured to optimize imaging and clinical operations as well as distribution capabilities.
Uses standard approaches to perform a variety of duties related to digital image support issues.
Conducts extensive research and compilation of data from diverse sources.
Extracts and assembles information, conducts analysis, and develops reports or presentations.

Physical Requirements:
The work will involve periods of walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying. The incumbent
is required to install equipment which will entail some physical labor to accomplish the task.
