About the Position: This position is under the supervision of the Materiel Fielding & Training Directorate.
Duties
Responsible for training development and input as a subject matter expert and senior instructor proposing changes and making recommendations on training methods, aids, hands-on exercises, classroom instructions and test/evaluation of students.
Responsible for oversight of training management such as setting up a classroom or training area, coordinating tools that are needed, track student attendance and participation and track student records.
Trains in classroom or motor pool environments using digital training products and hands on training as needed.
Operates as a senior training instructor responsible for providing functional training for junior instructors.
Provides oversight to junior instructors for input to training performance and methods.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
- The position requires a pre-employment physical, and annually thereafter.
- The position requires a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles or the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
- May be required to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Travel Card.
- When required participate in hazardous material training.
- May be required to handle Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL).
- Required to wear and use of prescribed personnel protective equipment.
- Position requires working in adverse conditions or outdoors in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperatures and in-climate weather.
- Position requires working in loud environments to include but not limited to the motor pool, weapons live fire range, and explosive ordnance.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Position requires working on, in and around, climbing up on, entering vehicles and operating in confined spaces.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 50-75% of the time.
- The incumbent is required to obtain the initial instructor certification required with recertification required every 5 years after the initial.

To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience which includes: conducting vehicle or equipment operation or maintenance training on military equipment; or assisting in the development of detailed lesson plans and training aids on operation and maintenance procedures with military equipment; or experience with tools and equipment required to assemble, disassemble, modify, maintain, or cannibalize equipment on military equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11),

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
