Duties
Leads the Department's Evidence Act program responsibilities, addressing the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) legislative, pragmatic and operational requirements for the Evidence Act.
Serves as OJP's technical interpreter of and spokesperson for decisions related to the Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018 ("Evidence Act").
Performs a wide range of tasks necessary to establish a set of processes, procedures and desk references necessary for an Evidence Act program.
Participates in national scientific conferences, symposia, and interdisciplinary technical/programmatic meetings to present, discuss, and disseminate National Institute of Justice (NIJ) research findings, activities, operations, and initiatives.

Qualifications
Basic Entry Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree or higher in operations research. -OR- at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
NOTE: Courses acceptable for qualifying for operations research positions may have been taken in departments other than Operations Research, e.g., Engineering (usually Industrial Engineering), Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Management Science. The following are illustrative of acceptable courses: optimization; mathematical modeling; queueing theory; engineering; physics (except descriptive or survey courses); econometrics; psychometrics; biometrics; experimental psychology; physical chemistry; industrial process analysis; managerial economics; computer science; measurement for management; mathematical models in social phenomena; and courses that involved application of operations research techniques and methodologies to problems of management, marketing, systems design, and other specialized fields; or other comparable quantitative analysis courses for which college-level mathematics or statistics is a prerequisite. In addition to the requirements above, to qualify for an Operations Research Analyst, your qualifications must include:
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Establishes a set of processes, procedures and desk references necessary for an Evidence Act program.
Provides expert analysis and/or advice on complex Evidence Act program issues.
Formulates, plans, and/or recommends research and evaluation projects and programs, related to the Evidence Act.
Conducts research and analysis, such as aggregate indicators, exploratory studies, descriptive statistics, and basic research, of programs or policies to assess effectiveness and efficiency.
Develops methods and analytical approaches for building evidence within an organization to use data to support policy decisions.
