You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the Environmental Management Division of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will develop, analyze, implement, evaluate, and modify the existing Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton(CPEN) Hazardous Waste Management and Hazardous Waste Permit Programs policies, permit conditions, and procedures. You will ensure continual environmental compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and statutes to include, but not limited to the Resource Conservation and Recover Act(RCRA), the Pollution Prevention Pollution Act, and state/local laws. You will ensure that the RCRA Permitted Hazardous Waste Storage Facility is operated in compliance with all permit conditions at all times. You will implement and provide direction, assistance, and hazardous waste disposition determinations for the Hazardous Waste Management Program for CPEN.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing technical expertise and oversee implementation of Environmental Programs to include: conduct inspections for environmental compliance in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and ensure programs (e.g. surface water quality, solid waste, hazardous waste, air quality, asbestos management, pesticide management) meet program compliance requirements. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
