Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Peterson Space Force Base is searching for a Chief Engineer, MILSATCOM Operations Support and Sustainment (NH-0855-04).
Requirements
- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance for the position.
- Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
- Incumbent may be required to report to work during base exercises, contingencies, or emergency situations and overtime/comp time/credit hours may be required to accomplish assigned duties.
- A professional engineering degree at the bachelor?s level from an ABET accredited institution in (specific discipline of position) or a closely related field is required.
- This position has been designated as an International Acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
- In addition to completing the core training standards for International Acquisition, the employee must meet, or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification requirements.
- This position is not eligible for remote or telework.
- PCS funding is available.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Extensive experience in program management, engineering, or a related field.
Space systems and/or comm electronics experience.
Previous supervisory experience. Experience in change management, demonstrated leadership in building high performing teams, and balancing competing interests across multiple organizations.
Demonstrated expertise in solving highly complex problems requiring multiple disciplines.
Knowledge of DoDI 5000.02 and other relevant regulations in defense acquisition programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships.
APDP Engineering level III certification (or equivalent is strongly desired).
APDP certification in other functional areas (desired).

Education
Basic Educational Requirements
Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
