This position is located in the Chinle Service Unit, Division of Clinical Services, Radiology (Imaging Services) Department, Chinle, Arizona. The purpose of this position is to perform radiological diagnostic technical operations for general imaging and computerized axial tomography using state of the art equipment in assisting the medial and clinical diagnosis of patients.
Duties
Performs general routine to complex ionizing radiation and computerized tomography (CT).
Takes radiographs such as IVP's, barium swallow, Small Bowel Follow series, Barium Swallows, Cystograms and Gallbladder.
Provides follow-up on results. Interprets examination requests.
Positions patient, explains procedures, selects and sets voltage, time and other technical factors.
As required by procedure or patient's condition, monitors vital signs, and notifies Radiologist of significant change.
Maintains patient records to ensure patient treatment and referral as necessary.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must
have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and its accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and
be certified as radiographers in their field. The following meet these requirements: (1). Persons employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel prior to the effective date of the regulation (January 13,1986) who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to other (2). Persons first employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who
(a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or
(b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence as determined by OPM or the employing agency. Certification: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) addition Mammography (ARRT) is required.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector.
GS-08:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level; examples of specialized experience: performing general and computerized tomography imaging services, medical/clinical support patient care duties, technical duties and administrative duties OR
One full year of graduate education - education must include courses directly related to the work of the position.
GS-09:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level independently performing general routine to complex ionizing radiation and computerized tomography (CT) imaging of the head and body for all standardized and special examinations such as IVP, Barium Swallows, Cryptogram's and gallbladders or for a variety of 500+ standard radiographic procedures. medical/clinical support patient care duties, technical duties and administrative duties OR
Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree - education must include courses directly related to the work of the position.
