This position is located at Departmental Offices, Domestic Finance-Financial Institutions. As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will be you will handle difficult and responsible assignments involving consumer financial products and services markets and related consumer protection issues, including research and analysis of current law and legislative proposals involving highly complex consumer financial, legal and regulatory issues.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-15. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will:
-Provide expert technical support and analyses of, and monitor developments in, the consumer financial products and services marketplace, and related legislative, regulatory and policy developments.
-Provide authoritative data, information and reporting on a wide range of issues related to the consumer financial products and services marketplace and reform proposals, including regulatory research, regulatory and policy developments, and consumer financial services, products and markets.
-Advise the Director of the Office of Consumer Policy, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Capital Access, and the Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions on matters related to policy development addressing consumer financial services and products.
-Conduct complex, authoritative research related to proposals for significant reform of the consumer financial protection regulatory structure, including highly complex issues related to creation of a new agency.
-Develop, produce and prepare policy statements, written materials, including briefing or issue papers, and memoranda for senior Treasury officials, including the Secretary, and for White House officials, including for the purpose of meetings, speeches, interviews, and testimony.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:
- Developing written analyses or memoranda for decision making regarding consumer financial products and services (such as payments, credit, and investment products and services) and their implications on consumer financial health, financial services market structure, and financial innovation; AND
-Analyzing and presenting economic and financial information and data related to consumer financial intermediation activities and financial services market structure; AND
-Applying laws and regulations related to consumer financial services and products.
For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:
- Developing written analyses or memoranda for decision making regarding consumer financial products and services (such as payments, credit, and investment products and services) and their implications on consumer financial health, financial services market structure, and financial innovation; AND
-Analyzing and presenting economic and financial information and data related to consumer financial intermediation activities and financial services market structure.
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:
- Developing written analyses or memoranda for decision making regarding consumer financial products and services (such as payments, credit, and investment products and services) and their implications on consumer financial health, financial services market structure, and financial innovation.
Time in Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks. For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks. For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
