The primary purpose of this position is to perform the full range of journey level Electronic Controls Mechanic, Industrial Equipment Mechanic and plumbing duties such as installing, repairing, modifying water supply, sewage disposal, and similar utility systems like water mains, back-flow preventers, fire hydrants, sewage pumps, and lawn irrigation systems.
Duties
Independently installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains a variety of new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage and water distribution systems, water closets, tubs, back-flow prevention devices/assemblies, fire sprinkler systems, and showers
Plans and accomplishes work from initial layout to final assembly which involves interpreting and applying building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and other plumbing guides/codes, and using shop mathematics
Troubleshoots/tests various plumbing systems and equipment including bac-flow prevention devices such as reduced pressure principle devices, double check devices, atmospheric vacuum breakers, and other cross connection devices
Uses and maintains tools such as tapes, rules, plumb bobs, hand and power pipe threaders, cutters, pipe wrenches, angle drills, hacksaws and power saws, power sewer cleaning equipment, various gas detectors and meters, and lead pots
Plans and lays out work from electrical and electronic black diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical orders
Performs pretest, operational (functional), and final testing; final tuning; alignment; and/or calibration of moderately complex electronic control systems, components, and/or subassemblies
Installs, overhauls, repairs, fabricates, and/or modifies various types of electronically controlled industrial equipment characterized by moderate complexity of design, construction, and function
Performs preventive maintenance on electronic control systems to include disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration
Performs all tasks involved in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of various types of equipment located in the collection systems
Performs preventive maintenance services

- Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
- Relocation costs or other incentives may be available and considered by the organization
- This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- This position may require drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection
- Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
- Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
- Employee must maintain current certifications such as Back-Flow device test and repair certification which is required.

- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.
- May be required to be certified for working with and/or removing hazardous material.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 - General Maintenance And Operations Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
