About the Position: Incumbent will serve as an Information Technology Specialist in the D/Resource Management, Information Division, Network Operations Branch.
Duties
Support database, master file, and data warehouse functions, and administration support for standard database software.
Develop, field, and support database applications.
Provide data mining services.
Ensure optimization of performance and database security.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- The incumbent must obtain and maintain the appropriate baseline certification in accordance with DoD manual 8570.1M. Personnel assigned to this position must obtain the appropriate baseline certification within six months of being assigned.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on an infrequent basis up to 10% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To Qualify at GS-09 Grade Level: You must have IT-related experience which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: 1) Attention to Detail - being thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; 3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; AND 4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to the competencies, you must also meet the specialized experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Carrying out assignments, operations and procedures related to business applications operation, programming, software, hardware, and networking; 2) Performing precedented computer hardware component repair and replacement; 3) Providing basic advice and guidance on data management matters to customers; AND 4) Assisting higher graded specialists with analysis of new developments in all phases of computer operations.

GS-09 Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, two full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
