This position is located in Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Operations, Assistant Commandant for Intelligence and Criminal Investigation, Intelligence Coordination Center (ICC), Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) Department, Springfield, VA.
Duties
You will serve as Geospatial Intelligence Analyst, with responsibility for utilizing geospatial analysis tools and geospatial information systems to conduct imagery and geospatial analyses for the Commanding Officer. This involves performing research, analysis, and liaison work with other intelligence and law enforcement agencies on topics of relevance to the USCG. Qualifications
At the GS-11 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes analyzing various international, energy, economic, or political topics for countries outside of the United States to support requests; collaborating with peers or colleagues on projects to leverage multiple perspectives.
OR
To qualify based solely on Education at the GS-11 Grade Level, applicants must possess one of the following:
Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or possess an LL.M, if related. Transcripts are required at the time of application.
OR
Applicants must possess a combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with budget analysis knowledge equivalent to a doctoral degree in the field. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a graduate course of study. Only graduate education in excess of 2 full years of graduate study may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-11.
At the GS-12 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes performing geospatial and/or imagery analysis, creating geographic representations of areas of interest or specific locations based upon mission requirements and customer requests, producing various geospatial datasets and visualizations of geospatial information and intelligence in order to satisfy customer requirements (e.g., shape files, geodatabases, and .kml and .kmz files for use with both ArcGIS and Google Earth), and the use of Python scripting and advanced web development skills as applied to geospatial databases and applications.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
