About the Position: Works under the supervision of a General Maintenance Supervisor who issues instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines, and relies on the incumbent to assure that work assignments are carried out by other members of the group. Supervisor is available to provide information or decisions regarding problems that may arise during work. Overall work operations are reviewed for status and progress, causes of delays and other problems.

Duties

Perform general maintenance on all types of electronic automated and manually operated target devices, components and related devices. Ensure needed plans, blueprints, materials, scenarios and tools are available for use. Understand integration of electronic, electric, mechanical and hydraulic components of automated or manually controlled target systems. Use diagnostic equipment and variety of hand and power tools to perform work. Obtain needed stock/target components from supply location. Assure machine capacities are not exceeded and tools properly used for safety of all personnel.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a NACI background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position is subject to an irregular tour of duty to cover a 24-hour-per-day, 7-day-per-week range operation.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical.
  • This is a ?Mission Essential? position not subject to administrative dismissal in emergencies created by inclement weather conditions or emergency situations as appropriate.
  • This position requires a valid/current stateside driver's license.
  • This position requires occasional business travel/TDY up to 5% of the time.
  • A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Assistance is available when carrying heavier equipment for long distances. Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, sitting, working in cramped positions, and climbing up and down stairs. Works inside and outside during all types of weather conditions. Works on remote ranges in rough terrain. Is exposed to the possibility of abrasions, cuts, bruises, burns, electrical shock, falls, and explosions. Hearing protection devices, hard hats, and other safety equipment and devices are issued and available for use.
