This position is in the Podiatry Section of the Surgical Care Service at the EOVAHCS. The duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the Muskogee medical center and the TOPC including all clinical and other patient care areas involved with the service.

Duties

Duties: Interviews patients to obtain their medical history. Screen patient complaints to determine emergent requests. Document patient medical records/charts (either paper or electronic) File and/or submit clinical documents and images for scanning. Ability to provide comprehensive diabetic foot exam and diabetic foot care education. Knowledge of outpatient foot care policies and procedures in the health environment. Knowledge of the anatomy of the foot. Ability to perform routine and general clinic administrative functions including management of weekly outstanding encounters, consults, and escalated in the health environment. Positions patients for procedures. Assists providers with wound care, cast removal, dressing removal. Perform direct patient support work including personal patient care. Arrange or transport patients to procedures, diagnostics, and inpatient or outpatient locations utilizing appropriate transport vehicular needs. Assists in placing orders in EMR. Utilize applicable computer software programs and/or database applications to perform required tasks. Collaborates with staff to coordinate further patient care or ensure patient appointment scheduling . Monitors the VSE Appointment system and verifies the providers schedule and further communicates with the MSA's to coordinate any appointment changes or scheduling. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: participates in the admission of patients by collecting patient information, orienting patients to the unit and is accountable for the accurate documentation of care and data in the electronic medical record; Assists with procedures by keeping the area sterile, setting up specialized equipment/instruments, and placing patients in the proper positions for the procedure and application and removal of routine prosthetics/orthotic devices; Assists with wound care, cast removal and dressing changes and applications; provides patient and staff education contributing to proper health care practices; Provides administrative support by daily checks of the clinic stockroom, assisting with placing clinic orders, and verifying providers schedule. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying of light items. The work requires above average agility and dexterity. The work may require occasional heavy lifting of equipment or patients, within the technician's capability Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
