The primary purpose is: To provide communication and Command & Control to Security Forces members in the course of their duties to secure and defend Eglin Air Force Base and its assets. Provides emergency police services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment.

Maintains an accurate status of all emergency response equipment and personnel to ensure prompt and accurate response. Provides advanced emergency medical dispatch life support through pre-arrival instructions to callers. Responds to emergency 911 calls by providing emergency dispatching services. Perform Emergency Medical Dispatch services to callers with medical emergencies. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to type at least 40 wpm.
  • Random drug testing may be required depending upon the position being filled.
  • This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42

  • Incumbent must obtain International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Certification as a Telecommunicator, Level I and II and HAZMAT Awareness. Must be able to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Incumbent is required to work on alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty (including weekends and holidays).
  • Incumbent is required to perform critical services regardless of weather conditions or base closure and report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled work time.
  • May be required to respond on off-duty time during a force protection incident, or stay over until the emergency has been terminated or until properly relieved by a qualified dispatcher.

  • ...maintaining a consistently courteous attitude at all times. Keeps calm and cool during emergency situations.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a current EMD certification, including initial and follow-on certification.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification during employment.
  • Must participate in exercises by relaying accurate information. Must be resourceful and alert to adequately perform duties.
  • Incumbent must participate in recurrent proficiency training, as directed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions located here SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower level GS-05 . Specialized experiences is ability to responds to emergency 911 calls by providing emergency dispatching services, perform Emergency Medical Dispatch services to callers with medical emergencies, Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Communications Operations Ability to read layered computerized grid maps Extensive knowledge of installation emergency call center and installation emergency services (i.e. security forces, fire, EOD, and ambulance functions) Emergency Dispatchers and Security Forces Controllers.
