About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.

Duties

Respond to rework calls and determine the cause of Aircraft mechanical components malfunction recommending appropriate rework to correct the problem. Remove nicks, burrs scratches, or other indications of excessive wear or damage by hand sanding or using the machine method to rework various Aircraft Mechanical components. Utilize a wide range of shop machinery to properly determine extent of re-work in order to meet mission accomplishment. Perform disassembly and assembly practices to properly diagnose aircraft mechanical components to meet mission requirement.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation (Tier 1 Non-Sensitive, Low Risk).
  • Employee must pass a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established requirements.
  • This position is covered by Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to signa DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble ShootingUse of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires standing, bending, walking, stooping, or sitting for long periods of time. Requires frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Hoists and/or equipment and other employees are available for handling heavier or awkward items. WORKING CONDITIONS: Normally works inside on concrete floors in well-lighted, ventilated air-conditioned shop area. May work outside on flight line or in hangar areas when on trouble calls. Exposed to varying degrees of temperature and noise around shop or test cell equipment. Exposed to dirt, dust, grease, oils and cleaning solvents and subject to cuts, abrasions, strains, and other injury from handling tools and parts and using equipment. Required to wear and use appropriate safety equipment. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the job.
