Duties
Joining the Secret Service, Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information, National Threat Assessment Center Division (NTAC) will allow you to apply a wide range of behavioral and social science research principles, concepts, and methods which are related to the prevention of targeted violence, threat assessment, terrorism, criminal behavior and protective intelligence.

Qualifications
You must demonstrate at least one (1) year of the defined specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level and meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR).

Basic Requirements:
Degree: behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position (transcripts required); OR 2. Combination of education and experience--that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field (transcripts required). OR 3. Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
AND
GS-14: You qualify for the GS-14 level (starting salary $132,368) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level performing duties such as:
providing guidance, direction, and feedback to junior staff in researching, analyzing, compiling and interpreting research results
communicating with senior management on project planning and areas for staff development
independently conducting research, training, and consultative initiatives in relation to targeted violence, terrorism and protective intelligence
directing and overseeing the composition of threat assessment reports for internal and external distribution
informing research techniques and developing standardized threat assessment techniques
implementing a wide range of behavioral and social science research principles, concepts and methods to direct others in research projects.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
