This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Assistant Commandant for Human Resources (CG-1), Civilian Human Resources, Diversity and Leadership Directorate (CG-12), Office of Diversity and Inclusion (CG-127), Washington, DC.
Duties
As a Program Specialist (Diversity and Inclusion), you will be responsible for supporting Coast Guard (CG) Affinity Groups and initiatives (for example, Student to Officer Always Ready, Academy Minority Outreach Team and Etheridge Initiative), specifically designed to provide a strategic approach in cultivating and supporting an inclusive atmosphere within CG learning environments and to promote diversity and inclusion within CG recruiting, retention, outreach and mentorship efforts.

Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-13: Applicants will need one full- year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12. Specialized experience includes: substantive knowledge of diversity and inclusion principles and programs; utilizing qualitative and quantitative analytical expertise with project management; leading and overseeing project design; directing, developing, coordinating and assessing program productivity, data collections; developing and analyzing metrics that measure the program effectiveness, identify program gaps, determine future needs and promote the success of Affinity Group programs.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
