Job opening: PIPEFITTER

Salary: $28 - 36 per hour
Employment Type: Full-time
You will serve as a PIPEFITTER in the PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will follow blueprints, sketches, shop drawings, verbal instructions, templates, or targets as guides to complete piping installations. You will maintain hand and power tools (e.g., wrenches, pipes threaders, cutters, dividers, chalk lines, dills, grinders, ground fault interrupter equipment) to accomplish assigned duties. You will assemble and fabricate piping sections for installation. You will check correct circulation, flow, pressure, and leak-free joints in the piping systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Using tolls and equipment such as sliding squares, measuring tapes, dividers, chalk lines, plumb bobs, templates, drills and wrenches; 2) Interpreting and/or applying building plans and blueprints; and 3) Using shop mathematics to lay out angles, arcs, and circles. WG-08: This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Selecting the correct tools needed to complete the repair, modification, or install of piping systems and equipment; 2) Assisting with interpreting and/or applying building plans and blueprints; and 3) Assisting with determining pipe, joint, and valve sizes needed to support pressures of systems.
