Duties
As a GLOBAL FORCE MANAGEMENT PLANNING SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Integrating and balancing force readiness and force allocation operations in order to execute USTRANSCOM's Unified Command, plan assigned missions of identifying and recommending global joint mobility forces sourcing solutions that are provided to the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) and the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) in coordination with the Services and other Combatant Commands (CCMDs) from among all DoD mobility forces.
Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships within the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Joint Staff, and the Services, Geographic and Functional Combatant Commands (CCMD), subordinate command(s), Transportation Component Commands (TCCs), and other government agencies.
Leads Global Force Management Implementation Guidance (GFMIG) planning to determine apportioned forces for the mission or allocated forces noting shortfalls in forces apportioned for planning but may not actually be available for execution due to readiness issues or previous commitments
Accountable for developing, staffing, briefing, and issuing the annual SECDEF-approved and directed Mobility Force deployment order and associated modifications covering the current fiscal year and two fiscal years forward.
Provides technical support and research for data collection, query development, execution, trend analysis, reporting and monitoring of unit availability, unit recovery tracking, and deployment to dwell time ratio statistics.
Responsible for the development, preparation, maintenance, tracking and disposition of required planning, operational, exercise and deployment orders directing the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command (JECC), Military Sealift Command (MSC), the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC)and Air Mobility Command Forces (AMC) in the execution of worldwide duties.

- Work is typically in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. When required incumbent must be physically capable of preforming in other than office setting while TDY in CONUS and/or OCONUS locations.
- Shift work and stand by duty may be required.
- This is a Key position. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform duties until relived by proper authority. This position may not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Determining and ensuring implementation of force sourcing decisions.
Conducting data collection, query development/execution, and trend analyses in support of contingency planning.
Developing analytical models and methodology, when needed, to objectively inform force management recommendations.
Demonstrating written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with organizations both within and outside DoD.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
