Duties
This position is with the Office of Inspector General, OFFICE OF CHIEF OF STAFF, in Washington, District of Columbia. As a Communications Specialist you will support the Associate Inspector General for Communications and Congressional Affairs in posting information for consumption by OIG customers and staff and providing information to Congressional and media stakeholders.
Major duties include:
Writing, proofreading, and posting information published on internal and external OIG sites. Analyzing, interpreting, and integrating written and visual information to ensure content is posted with consistency and understanding. Conducting quality assurance checks on all content.
Developing and maintaining a communication plan for timely posting of news articles, personal profiles, and other items of interest on OIG's internal site. Coordinating with OIG Information Technology technical staff to maintain site standards and operability.
Assisting with liaison with Congressional and media stakeholders to keep them apprised of OIG activities and work products. Developing timely and appropriate responses to external inquiries; preparing and editing press releases; and drafting talking points for meetings, speeches, or presentations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Minimum Qualifications GS-14:
One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing all of the following:
Writing and editing complex or sensitive documents for internal and external audiences
Collaborating with subject matter experts to produce written responses to external audiences, such as Congressional or media inquiries; AND
Communicating complex ideas to different audiences both orally and in writing
