Duties
Maintains supervisor’s daily schedule of appointments and meetings, ensuring that the supervisor is aware of and prepared for associated issues. Develops and maintains a filing system and tracking system to clearly outline the administrative obligations of the center, including distribution of responsibilities for section within the Designations and Sentence Computation Center (DSCC). Received and responds to telephone inquiries from higher organizational levels, institution, DSCC staff, other government agencies and the public concerning the DSCC’s program, activities, and administration. Composes nontechnical correspondence on a variety of topics such as office procedures, requests for information, and the handling of Congressional or other sensitive matters based on knowledge of unwritten policies, precedents, and practices. Ensures office procedures meet organization’s needs and are consistently understood and followed in subordinate offices.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education:As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Experience in maintaining supervisor’s daily calendar, establishing priorities, scheduling appointments and making commitments for the supervisor to attend meetings without prior approval.
Experience in receiving and responding to telephonic/written inquiries from higher organizational levels including other federal, state and local government officials/agency staff and the general public.
Experience involving a thorough knowledge of a wide range of administrative procedures and regulations to process various requests and actions, forms, reports and records and reviewing correspondence for proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and format.
Experience ordering office supplies, subscriptions, furniture and equipment, and preparing repair requests, and ensuring credit card holders’ monthly statements are reconciled and statements are disseminated to appropriate officials.
