You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the PEO, Undersea Warfare Systems (PEO UWS); the Deputy Commander, Undersea Technology (SEA 07); Attack Submarine (PEO SSN) of PEO SSN. You will increase efficiencies within the submarine acquisition, maintenance, and modernization communities, Team Submarine eliminates traditional "stovepipe" structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities.
Duties
You will serve as an In-Service Project Engineer responsible for providing technical authority, expert consultation and advisory for the overall configuration management and administration for organizational programs.
You will also provide productivity and efficiency of Submarine Escape and Rescue In-Service projects and be a subject matter expert for all matters pertaining to coordination, oversight, assessment and reporting on submarine escape and rescue assets.
You will demonstrate expert analytical and evaluation knowledge to include conception, planning, research and development, risk identification and mitigation, and test and evaluation.
You will manage complex programs or projects; defining project goals, developing plans, schedules, and cost estimates to attain established goals.
You will interpret engineering drawings documents, and evaluate procedures, calculations, and analysis results to provide solutions or make recommendations for improvements and increased efficiencies.
You will apply general engineering practices and critical thinking skills to projects to ensure the best course of action is taken to resolve complex.
You will lead multi-disciplined teams and technical discussions to address technical challenges and implement solutions.
You will demonstrate experience in project management, overseeing projects, assign tasks and timelines, to include workflow management.
You will consolidate technical input from Technical Warrant Holders to formulate/draft NAVSEA responses to the fleet.
You will serve as a consultant and expert advisor for the organization in applying advanced concepts, principles, and processes for life cycle engineering and management of various systems, subsystems, equipment, and procedures for engineering areas.
You will define project goals, develop plans, schedules, cost estimates, resource requirements, and resulting budgets to achieve established program goals and objectives on schedule and within fiscal constraints.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the pay band NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer providing technical oversight of submarine or submersible requirements, specifications, design criteria, or system design to identify viable technical options for systems performance issues.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
