About the Position:
Serve as the Chief of Guards with responsibilities for the security guard program U.S. Army Medical Activity (MEDDAC), directly reporting to the MEDDAC Security Manager.
This position is restricted to persons entitled to Veterans' Preference; if there are no Veterans' preference eligible applicants available, non-preference applicants may be considered.
Duties
Serve as the Chief of Guards with responsibility of operating the security guard force.
Provide policy and delegate authority for day to day activities to subordinate Supervisory and Lead guards.
Determine the need for, develop, coordinate and implement training for all guard personnel.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Review and approve all reports for initial investigations on all incidents and crimes that occur within the facility.
Recommend and execute the facility lockdown plan in support of Force Protection Operations.
Perform administrative actions, write reports and complete forms, record messages, attend meetings and briefings.
Overall responsibility for securing weapons and ammunition for the guard force.
Operate a government motor vehicle. (e.g., utility vehicle, pickup truck or sedan) with up to one ton load capacity as transportation for staff as needed.
Schedule and conduct weapons and TASER training and qualification courses to ensure all personnel properly qualify with their weapon and TASER semi-annually.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent may be required to spend up to 15% of the time in a travel or Temporary Duty (TDY) status.
- This position requires an immunization to determine inoculation for Measles, Mumps and Rubella, Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis, Chickenpox titer, skin test screening for Tuberculosis, and a series of three immunizations against Hepatitis.
- This position requires an initial medical examination IAW AR 190-56 prior to employment and every year thereafter.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance IAW AR 190-56.
- Incumbent must successfully complete initial security guard training within 90 days of employment.
- Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid stateside driver?s license while holding this position IAW AR 190-56.
- Incumbent must obtain initial and annual certification under Individual Reliability Program per AR 190-56.
- Incumbent is required to pass an initial and annual physical ability test IAW AR 190-56 (must pass initial PAT within 30 days of hiring date).
- This position will require shift work (to include rotating shifts) that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime IAW AR 190-56.
- Incumbent is required to wear a uniform and/or protective clothing IAW AR 190-56.
- Incumbent is required to wear protective body armor IAW AR 190-56.
- Incumbent is required to successfully complete and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification IAW AR 190-56 within 60 days of employment.
- Incumbent is required to wear protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment when necessary IAW AR 190-56.
- Incumbent is required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants, non-lethal weapons, and other law enforcement equipment IAW AR 190-56.
- Incumbent is required to complete annual training and re-certification requirements such as training in the techniques of force, counter-terrorism, First Aid, firearms, search and seizure, security operation law enforcement, other annual training.
- This position is identified as Mission Critical and Weather Essential which may require the incumbent to report to work during an emergency situation or when inclement weather has curtailed operations.
- This position requires successful completion of Active Shooter training IAW AR 190-56.
- This position requires a pre-employment drug test and random drug testing thereafter IAW AR 600-85.
