You will serve as a CHEMIST in the The Sea Warfare and Weapons S&T Department of OFFICE OF NAVAL RESEARCH.
Duties
You will manage science and technology programs to support the design, performance, operation, and maintenance of the Navy?s next-generation ships and submarines.
You will conceive, plan, evaluate, initiate, organize, direct and coordinate highly innovative basic research, applied research and advanced development projects.
You will contribute to ONR Power and Energy Focus Area objectives.
You will recognize promising new scientific and technological concepts and findings in their infancy and to evaluate their feasibility for, and
applicability to, DoN missions.
You will formulate overall program objectives
You will make technical decisions within individual projects, modify plans and milestones as appropriate, and make other necessary adjustments among and within tasks so as to optimize program productivity.
You will participate in DoD, national, and international planning groups to represent Navy and ONR interests.
Requirements

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11-13) or pay band (NP-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Leading complex systems development and the formulation and execution of science and technology programs; 2) Planning, evaluating, initiating, organizing, directing and coordinating highly innovative basic research, applied research and advanced development projects; 3)Participating in group endeavors that establish future Science and Technology needs and opportunities; 4) Formulating overall program objectives, milestones and tasks; and 5) making technical decisions within individual projects, modify plans and milestones as appropriate, and make other necessary adjustments among and within tasks so as to optimize program productivity.

Basic Requirements:

Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.

Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
