About the Position: Serves as a Program Advisor managing enrollment status for all students at the Defense Language Institute, the preparation of student academic transcripts for all current and former graduates, and the American Council on Education (ACE) Credit by Exam program.
Duties
Manages enrollment status for all students at the Defense Language Institute.
Administers a coordinated Associate of Arts Degree (AA) program for the Defense Language Institute (DLI).
Maintains and safeguards the release and use of official student records according to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and the U.S. Privacy Act.
Makes initial contact with universities and other postsecondary institutions and briefs students on degree program requirements.
Counsels and assists students in the preparation of AA degree forms and credentials.
Initiates contacts with students to retrieve, verify and correct information to maintain an accurate student records database.
Researches student academic data in Student Database (SDB), local databases and student card files or class folders for each student transcript request.
Maintains accuracy and currency of all enrollment data by entering all information related to changes in student enrollment in the SDB and Army Training and Resource Requirement System (ATTRS) database systems.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Business travel TDY may be required up to 5% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes entering and managing student enrollment data in an educational related automated system or database; preparing and managing enrollment records; preparing and issuing student transcripts; collecting specific student academic data for analysis from automated systems or databases; reviewing training reports to identify training needs and/or changes needed; and applying knowledge of academic transcript credentialing and accreditation standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
