The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to Military Officer Promotions & Systems.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Military Officer Promotions, ensuring that all pre/post board actions for all officer promotion boards, to include special selection and special review boards, for promotion to the grades of captain through colonel; drafting complex staff packages/scrolls for SECAF, SECDEF, POTUS and Senate approval; overseeing the service-wide Selective Continuation program; directing promotion proprietary actions; and analyzing/drafting advisories for Air Force Board of Corrections for Military Records (AFBCMR) consideration complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Represents Military Officer Promotions Section with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

- This is a Centrally Managed Position in the Force Support Career Field. PCS will be paid in accordance with JTR Vol. 2 and applicable Air Force Regulations
- This is a Supervisory Position. A 1 year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Human Resources Management, Series 0201.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the laws, DoD/DAF guidelines, policies, regulations, Military Personnel systems, to include Sequel, AFPROMs, MilPDS, EBOSS, ARMS/PRDA, CASES, CMTARS, AMS, GOFO and other emergent programs and other automation efforts relating to military officer promotions. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of various military personnel systems to ensure accurate program execution, to include implementing system change requests to leverage automation capabilities to increase the effectiveness of officer promotion packages.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of laws, DoD/DAF guidelines, policies, regulations, Military Personnel systems, to include Sequel, AFPROMs, MilPDS, EBOSS, ARMS/PRDA, CASES, CMTARS, AMS, GOFO and other emergent programs and other automation efforts relating to military officer promotions.
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to research, analyze, and validate officer promotion data using various military personnel systems to ensure accurate program execution, to include implementing system change requests to leverage automation capabilities to increase the effectiveness of officer promotion packages.
Ability to apply subject matter expertise to develop innovative processes and solutions to meet emerging, dynamic promotion requirements for the USAF and USSF.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
