What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position? The salary will be based on the OPM locality pay table for the duty location selected. Qualifications

Only experience obtained by 07/26/2023 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualification. Minimum Qualification [GS-06] Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-6 level: One year of specialized experience in or directly related to the position to be filled that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-5 level work may include: Assists in the review, research, and interpretation of new laws, rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to the retirement and benefits program. Reviews OPM and TSP correspondence to keep abreast of changes. Drafts instructional memoranda to impart new information concerning retirement and benefits programs. Prepares and responds to email messages discussing employee benefits issues. Serves as liaison with health plan carriers to resolve problems. Reviews, codes, and processes benefits requests/forms. Enters and retrieves data using automated computer systems for processing personnel actions. Maintains records as required by regulation. Prepares documentation for employees to make a deposit or redeposit for civilian or military service. Provides technical assistance to other HR assistants regarding benefits. Conducts new employee orientation. Provides basic benefits information to employees, i.e., health insurance, life insurance, dental & vision, long term care, flexible spending accounts, Thrift Savings Plan, and retirement systems. Minimum Qualification [GS-07] Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-7 level: One year of specialized experience in or directly related to the position to be filled that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-6 level work may include: Assists in the preparation of retirement packages for submission to OPM by completing an initial review of the application; preparing the certified summary; extracting all related benefits forms from the eOPF; completing all required benefits forms for retirement i.e., SF-2819 and SF-2821; and provides all documents and copies to the benefits specialist. Responds to questions related to policy and procedures of benefits issues. Identifies issues with benefits procedures and make recommendations for improvement to processes. Resolves problems and discrepancies in benefits matters. Conducts research and keeps abreast of current rules and regulations. Determines the impact of new or revised regulations or policies on operations and recommend proactive changes. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time In Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the Job Opportunity Announcement. Specifically, i. Area of Consideration. ii. Time-in-grade (TIG) requirements as specified in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. iii. Time after competitive appointment as specified in 5 CFR 330.502. iv. Qualification requirements outlined in OPM's Qualifications Standards for General Schedule Positions or for Federal Wage System (FWS), wage grade positions, applicants are evaluated using the OPM Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations and the job element examining method Your SF-50 will be used to confirm you meet all requirements. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.
