Duties
Use appropriate training aids including computer-based material and devices to execute and enhance training outcomes.
Develop and keep current lesson plans with handbooks, study guides, and tests.
Design, prepare, and keep other instructional aids including flip charts, viewgraphs, slides, etc. current.
Utilize up-to-date knowledge of advanced medical subjects (standards of care) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) processes, practices, procedures that are pertinent and applied in the program of instruction.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a NACI security investigation or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires travel outside the commuting area approximately 5% of the time (TDY).
- Must possess and maintain current NREMT EMT or higher certifications. Please attach certification records to application package.
- Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Please attach certification records to application package.

Basic Requirements for Training Instructor (Combat Medic) GS-1712-09:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes Medic, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic personnel in an academic or field setting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, education or science fields.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
