ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This announcement is specifically for an NGA External Hiring Event for Software Developers. This announcement is for external applicants only (non NGA employees).To be considered applicants MUST submit a resume for a software developer job announcement marked "Hiring Event Only" in NGA Candidate Gateway (CG) by 11:59PM EST on August 7. Applicants selected for an interview will be notified via email on August 14. The email will contain a link to record an interview and to complete a Training and Education Questionnaire (TEQ) and CodeVue assessment by 11:59PM EST on August 17. Specific details for the event will be provided within the email invite.All applicants must be U.S. citizens at the time of application. Applicants must be eligible and able to meet the agency's conditions of employment, to include NGA fitness for employment standards, Security Clearance (Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information), Polygraph, Drug Testing, Two Year Probationary Period, and Direct Deposit Requirement. NGA does not guarantee any applicant the extension of an official offer of employment; however, NGA will be screening all employment applicants against its current and future manpower requirements. Selected applicants will be considered for the Agency's Hiring Pool. Selected candidates must be willing to relocate in support of mission requirements.Tasks1) Develop software applications, services, and systems (e.g., user-facing and back-end services).2) Manage source code using industry version control best practices.3) Research new techniques and technologies to stay current in software development methodologies and tools.4) Utilize code validation tools to ensure that source code is valid, is properly structured, meets industry standards, is secure, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems.5) Collaborate with customers to define needs and/or specifications and develop proposed solutions.6) Test and integrate developed software applications into the operational baseline.7) Perform test driven development utilizing strong unit testing techniques to include test cases mimicking external interfaces and addressing all browser and device types.8) Modify or enhance existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware, or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance.9) Create technical models, architectural artifacts, and/or prototypes that include physical, interface, logical, or data models (e.g., model view controller (MVC) programming practices).10) Share actionable/valuable information with colleagues and leadership and engage with community as resident expert.11) Prepare reports and consult with customers or other stakeholders to advise on technical issues, provide operational support, respond to questions, and offer status updates.This position may be eligible for a RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE: selected candidates may be offered an incentive as part of the offer of employment. To receive the incentive, selected candidates must be eligible under 5 CFR Part 575, Subpart A, upon issuance of the Final Offer Letter. Changes in federal employment status prior to issuance of the Final Offer Letter may affect eligibility. To receive the incentive, selected candidates will be required to sign a service agreement to stay within the position at NGA for the agreed upon time. If the service agreement is terminated before its completion, the employee may be required to repay a pro rata share amount of the incentive to the government. Qualifications

MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Online resumes must demonstrate qualification by providing specific examples and associated results, in response to the announcement's mandatory criteria specified in this vacancy announcement: 1. Professional experience with database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, DynamoDB, or equivalent.2. Professional experience using a programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent to complete software applications.3. Experience with build automation tools such as Maven, Gradle, Webpack, NPM, Yarn, Jenkins, Gitlab CI, or equivalent.4. Experience in applying agile development methodologies to develop software.5. Experience building web application programming interfaces (API) using standards such as REST or SOAP.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of college coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience in software design, information technology engineering, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of college work is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in software design, information technology engineering, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Experience with developing and deploying containerized applications to a Kubernetes container orchestration system.2. Demonstrated experience with frameworks such as Python Flask, Java Spring, Java Spring Boot, JavaScript React, or JavaScript Redux.3. Professional experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying software to include full stack web-based applications using industry standard DevOps tools.4. Experience writing unit and integration tests for application code.5. Experience applying software security techniques, controls, and best practices to engineer software to mitigate vulnerabilities and risk against malicious attacks and ensure continued operations.
