You will serve as a SUPERVISORY AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TERMINAL) in the S-3 Airfield Operations of MARINE CORPS AIR FACILITY QUANTICO.

Duties

You will provide oversight for the composition of monthly proficiency classes. You will create, proctor, and grade written examinations to evaluate the results of scheduled training. You will develop reports, to include the presentation of technical data, estimates, statistics, suggestions, and other information useful to superiors in determining which goals and objectives to emphasize. You will prepare controller wavier and/or revocation requests. You will conduct an annual review of the FACMAN as required by the NATOPS ATC Manual. You will establish liaison briefs between MCAF Quantico ATC, HMX-1, and civilian user groups regarding safety of flight, airspace usage, and ATC equipment updates. You will supervise personnel matters of subordinates to include their performance ratings, initiate reports of disciplinary and commendatory actions.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Air traffic control specialists must possess the facility ratings required at the facility where the position is located. You will be required to maintain a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist and/or Control Tower Operator Certificate.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • Must be a graduate of the air traffic controller (ACAI), or equivalent DOD/DOT air traffic controller course. You must have successfully completed the FAA Airman's Written Test (AWT) and possess an Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) certificate.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: leading, developing, standardizing, implementing, and updating an Air Traffic Control (ATC) Facility's training program and overseeing the quality assurance program within an ATC Facility.
