This is a Direct Hire Solicitation About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Surgery, Physical Therapy Service at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) with the Defense Health Agency, Indo-Pacific Market, Hawaii Region. The incumbent of this position serves as Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) for a designated work area within the Hawaii Military Health System, performing a wide range of complex PTA duties requiring an advanced practical knowledge of physical therapy.

Duties

Performs a wide range of complex Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) duties requiring an advanced practical knowledge of physical therapy, evidence-based medicine and data collection to perform specific aspects of evaluations and interventions. Performs day-to-day duties with the supervisor providing general guidelines regarding the nature of therapeutic activities and the program in general. Under the direction of the Physical Therapist, plans, coordinates, and administers diverse physical therapy programs. Initiates, implements, plans, and recommends progressive treatment plan with consideration of patient?s status and general health, under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist. Shares technical expertise with other therapy assistants, physical therapy students and other interdisciplinary team members. Masters new techniques and modality proficiency by studying current literature and conducting required research.

• Requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Temporary Duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
• Subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Licensure/Certification: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant from a state, the District of Columbia, or a territory of the United States is required. AND Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing physical therapy treatment plans, and instructing on physical therapy programs or providing status reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such asOccupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or Exercise Science. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
