Duties
Loads and unloads freight on or from, trucks or other conveyances and pack and unpack boxes, carton and other containers.
Determines quantities of material on hand by counting, weighing or measuring.
Identifies freight by piece and item on Government Bills of Lading (GBL), DD1348?s, Material Movement Documents (MMD), Delivery Control List (DCL), requisitions, carrier arrival notices and other transportation documents.
Performs count and damage record discrepancies.
Processes material from receiving areas to storage areas.
Assembles material for shipments or for issue.
Places material in priority sequence for processing.
Operates material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts, trucks (gas and electric), hand and electric pallet trucks, pallet jacks and stock picking carts.
Uses various hand tools such as hammers, wire cutters, pocket knives, carton openers, nail pullers, cut-off wheels and power hacksaws.
May be required to shovel snow and sand walkways, loading areas, docks; and sweep floors, loading docks, ramps and outside areas in order to perform duties.
May be required to attend nuclear, radiological, sub-safe/level I, Controlled Industrial Material (CIM) and Scope of Certification (SOC) training in order to be qualified to handle all types of materials.

- Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, where reciprocity cannot be applied; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.

- License/Certification: Required. The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and any Installation and/or DoD license required for the operations of MHE up to 10 tons is required; Forklift certification
- You will be a Mission Essential employee. This requires you to work during an emergency to ensure continuation of essential functions. You may be required to work at the designated duty location, a telework site, or an alternate location/facility.
Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:
I perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision, such as handle materials; carry weights up to 44 pounds unassisted; operate power and hand tools and have the ability to measure materials.
