Duties
The SSC Chief Information Office wants to transform how the Space Force--the first digital service-- designs, builds, buys, and deploys software to stay ahead of our adversaries. Engineers in the office work with product managers and others to implement modern tools and processes for software development and acquisition.
Requirements
- PCS/Relocation incentives may be paid.
- Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for the position.
- This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
- Work requires the appropriate APDP certification(s), Level 2 or 3 in an area such as Test and Evaluation; Systems Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering-Systems Engineering.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
- Position is eligible for situational telework (6-8 days a pay period).
- A professional engineering degree at the bachelor?s level from an ABET accredited institution is required.
- Incumbent may be required to report to work during base exercises, contingencies, or emergency situations and overtime/comp time/credit hours may be required to accomplish assigned duties.

Education
Basic Educational Requirements
Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
