This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Production Machinery Repairer applies a working knowledge of the mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic operating characteristics of a variety of equipment and machinery.
This is a Bargaining Unit position AR3135
Duties
Assist journeyman level mechanics with the installation, repair, maintaining, and adjusting of fixed and semi-fixed equipment and machinery.
Use various portable machines and hand tools to repair and install equipment and machinery.
Bolt down parts and accessories to foundations, install, and repair foundations for operating machinery, and connect the steam lines, hydraulic lines, air hose couplings, fuel lines, lubrication systems, and any other power source prior to operation.
Use a variety of test equipment and measuring devices for troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment and machinery.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
- This position requires you possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

Screen Out Element - Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of Production Machinery Repairer, WG-5350-08 without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common repair work on production machinery equipment, such as recognizing obvious defects in mechanical components of production equipment and machinery such as worn gears, bent or broken bolts, and based on general knowledge of mechanical parts and assemblies, remove and replace such parts using simple drawings and blueprints, clearly defined work processes, and ordinary hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers.
Physical Effort: Average weights handled are about 40 lbs. Hoists, dollies, and crane are available for use with heavy objects. Considerable standing, stooping, crawling, and working in strained or awkward positions is required. You must have good coordination and balance in working around machinery while in operation. All lifts over 50 lbs will be assisted with a two person lift or using a mechanical handling equipment device. The two person lift limit is 100 lbs and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts.
Working Conditions: Most of the work is performed indoors. Uncomfortable conditions exist such as noise, dirt, grease, vibrations, poor ventilation, and unpleasant odors. You are subjected to explosive hazards while working on production equipment while explosive operations are in progress, subjected to the hazards of moving machinery, and exposed to the possibility to cuts, bruises, burns, and scrapes.
