This position is telework eligible consistent with the Agency’s telework and remote work program policy. This position is located in the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Finance and Operations, Office of Acquisition and Grants, and Risk Management. The incumbent serves as a Staff Assistant to the Senior Level Administrator performing a variety of projects and assignments in the operational objectives of the Office.

Duties

This involves the preparation of reports, analyses, and recommendations. •  Preparing substantive responses to a wide variety of correspondence on functions received by Office of Acquisition and Grants, and Risk Management (OAGRM) (this correspondence originates with top officials both inside and outside the Department, and ensures that responses are clear, complete, and appropriately organized.   •  Serving as liaison between the director, Office of Acquisition and Grants, and Risk Management (OAGRM) staff, and external/internal customers initiating, developing, and coordinating preparation of briefing materials, working with Office of Acquisition and Grants, and Risk Management (OAGRM) staff to discuss overall objectives and deadlines, as well as to share ideas for information to be incorporated in briefing documents.   •  Developing and maintaining documents and spreadsheets using various software applications.

Requirements

  • Relocation will not be paid.

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must complete a Background Investigation and Fingerprint Check.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification RequirementsSpecialized Experience for the GS-12One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-11 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments:1. Experience utilizing principles, policies, or regulatory guidance to assist in developing effective and efficient data collection processes.2. Experience researching information and interpreting data to prepare narratives in response to priority policy issues and special initiatives that emanate from executive level members.3. Experience developing advanced format reports, charts, graphs, and/or multimedia presentations using various advanced computer software applications.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) The quality of your experience will be measured by the extent to which you possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs). You do not need to provide separate narrative responses to these KSAs, as they will be measured by your responses to the occupational questionnaire (you may preview the occupational questionnaire by clicking the link at the end of the Evaluations section of this vacancy announcement).1. Skill in developing and compiling a variety of administrative reports to meet specific requests.2. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.3. Skill in developing and maintaining documents using Microsoft Office Suite.
