Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Intelligence, National Border Security Intelligence Watch Directorate (NBSIW), NBSIW Indications & Warning Division, located in Washington, DC.

Duties

This position starts at a salary of $155,700.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $183,500.00 (GS-15, Step 10) with promotion potential to $183,500 (GS-15, Step 10). In this Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist (Division Director) position, you will promote the objectives of the Office, and serves as a technical expert in her/his area(s) of expertise and responsibility. Major Duties include but are not limited to: Directing and managing subordinate supervisory staff of the Intelligence Watch who are directly engaged in providing intelligence and analysis, operational support, and program management in service of the CBP intelligence enterprise. Managing, directing, and planning work to be accomplished by Deputy Division Director and subordinate Branches. Organizing, planning, directing, controlling, coordinating, and managing a supervisory Deputy Director and other subordinate supervisors. Reviewing the work of assigned supervisory staff for content and compliance with OI, CBP, and DHS policies, regulations and procedures.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Managing a subordinate supervisory staff who are directly engaged in providing critical strategic intelligence products on current and emerging border security threat matters. Developing and implementing standard operating procedures particular to the strategic intelligence mission. Advising and providing counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Reviewing existing intelligence programs policies and procedures to determine whether they meet the requirements of current or newly implemented situations. Coordinating in and participating in agency, departmental, federal, international, and in intelligence community. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 08/04/2023. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
