This vacancy is for an Information Technology Specialist position in the Department of Commerce, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Computer Services Division, located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Information Technology Specialist, 2210, 14, FPL GS-14 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Serves as a technical subject matter expert on a matrixed team, responsible for initiating, executing, overseeing, and evaluating projects and advising on the Census Bureau's IT Cloud infrastructure strategy, roadmap, architecture, and engineering.
Implements and manages cloud services and solutions to support the enterprise cloud environment and mission supporting applications; manages IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions using IaC and zero trust frameworks.
Develops Cloud Concept of Operation (ConOps) and architectural artifacts; develops Cloud processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contributes to the further development and refinement of the Census Bureau?s Cloud cost model.
Captures business requirements and translates them into actionable cloud based technical solutions; implements security requirements, monitors security statuses, and maintains compliance of Cloud solutions within security policies.
Communicates with technical and non-technical customers, translating business and non-functional requirements to actionable requirements necessary for designing and engineering solutions and critical engagement services to Cloud customers.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes completing hands-on work in cloud environments utilizing AWS cloud solutions, Terraform as an infrastructure for code solutions, or similar hands-on cloud technical experience.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
