You will serve as a Management & Plans Officer in the G-1 Division, U.S. Marines Corps Forces South (MARFORSOUTH) of US MARINE FORCES SOUTH.

Duties

You will advise staff members on administrative and manpower policies, strategies, plans, and procedures. You will advise the commander on internal staff management as well as day to day issues and policies that impact personnel. You will be responsible for the oversight and management of operation and exercise support for MARFORSOUTH. You will exercise full technical and administrative management and supervision of all subordinate functional branches within the G-1 department. You will identify developmental and training needs of employees. You will interview candidates for positions and makes selection recommendations for appointments, promotions, or reassignments.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing advisory services for operational, manpower and personnel administrative policies and plans; 2) Coordinating deployment, mobilization and contingency response for Active and Reserve personnel; 3) Overseeing and managing operational and exercise support; 4) Planning, managing and coordinating personnel augmentation for major exercises; 5) Managing casualty tracking and replacements; 6) Providing direct and/or section supervision and oversight; and 7) Planning and assigning work to subordinates and evaluating employee performance.
